iBookのバッテリーが壊れて以来、スリープモードがとても使いにくかった。スリープ中に電源を抜くとそのまま電源が切れてしまったりで「Windowsのようなハイバネが使えれば……」と思っていたが、OS X 10.4.3以降ではiBookでもハイバネが使えることが判明。

で、その手順をメモ。
Terminalから
$ sudo nvram nvramrc='" /" select-dev
> " msh" encode-string " has-safe-sleep" property
> unselect
> '
$ sudo nvram "use-nvramrc?"=true
$ sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

hibernatemodeは3にするとsleep-imageをディスクに作成しつつ一旦通常のスリープモードに入る。1にすると最初からsafe sleepに入る。0にするとsafe sleepが無効になる。
